Selby's Myth

In my writing I have been focusing on:
Adding interesting vocab to enage the reader
Using speech marks correctly
Structuring my myth as a narrative with an explanation of why something is the way it is

Why dogs wag their tails

Thousands of years ago, in an enchanted New Zealand forest, full of lots of different talking animals, there was a very sad brown and white Jack Russell.

The brown and white Jack Russell's name was Mutley, and Mutley was very sad because he could not wag his tail like all the other dogs, it just lay there not moving all year round.

One day while he was taking a walk through the forest, he saw smoke rising from a tree.
'oh no' he barked 'There are no fire trucks near the forest so everyone is going to die!'
When Mutley thought all was gone he saw the local wizard going for a walk. Mutley ran up to wizard Kipper and asked for Kipper to make his tail wag.
'Please wizard Kipper, the forest is in danger!' he asked hurriedly. Kipper waited for a while until eventually barking: "I was not going to tell you about this but it is the only way to make your tail wag. Black magic! Close your eyes and I will begin" so Mutley did and Kipper began.
"bleep, bloop, blop!" Now whenever you're happy you will wag your tail whether you make it or not" Barked Kipper

Mutley ran as fast as he could to the fire. When he got there he ran inside and saw his mum. He was so happy because he had not seen her in years. Then his tail started to wag, and wag, and WAG! Mutley got so tired from wagging his tail that he fainted!

Mutley woke up later to the sound of animals cheering his name around him: 'Mutley, Mutley, make him king! over and over he heard this chant. Then the king Hippo came up to him and said: "Well done Mutley, you have saved our kingdom. Although half the school house has burned down you still saved everyone with you're tail and now you're king. " But how did I save everyone?" asked Mutley clearly confused. "You wagged all the smoke away with your tail"

Mutley beamed as everyone bowed to his paws.

From that day on all the dogs wagged their tails whether they made it or not.

THE END!
